Façade & solar protection made of spiral mesh: Convention Center, Dayton/USA
Dayton Convention Center
The flexible formability of the Escale 7 x 1 stainless steel spiral mesh and its gleaming surface enabled the construction of a unique three-story rotunda at the entrance of the most important public convention center in Dayton, Ohio, USA. The metallic rotunda façade is reminiscent of an air-traffic control tower and lends the convention center a new, modern look with a high-tech aesthetic.
The curved façade was clad in 1,800 m² of transparent stainless steel spiral mesh. In addition to the fact that it is robust and requires no maintenance, the GKD fabric provides effective solar protection while providing an unencumbered view from inside.
