Special metal mesh at the parking garage of Park Square in Doral, Florida reduces solar input and offers protection from adverse weather conditions, thus providing solar protection and weather resistance in one.

A new residential and business district is being created near Miami International Airport in the up-and-coming community of Doral. The briefing of Zyscovich Architects from Miami was to connect the multi-story office/parking garage complex with the structure of the neighboring park.

The architects chose Omega wire mesh for this task. GKD produced this mesh in varying densities especially for this project. The resulting metal mesh can withstand category 4 hurricanes (up to 145 mph). Its properties make it the ideal mesh for the region, acting as efficient protection from solar radiation and extreme weather conditions.
